The Tamil language congregation traces its origins to the summer of 1958 when Rev. C. A. De Bruin, a visiting RCA missionary from the Madras Diocese, conducted a worship service exclusively in Tamil in the Majlis close to the present National Evangelical Church (NEC) building.

From then on, the Tamils were encouraged to meet as a prayer group till the year 1964 – 65 when worship services were revived and held on Thursday evenings at the Majlis. Where the early members co-ordinate efforts to get all the Tamils together.  

The Tamil congregation, which has about 500 members, has programs for every section of the congregation (children, youth, men, and women).

It faithfully continues to meet for service on Friday evenings and the members are most joyful in being able to worship in their own language. They are confident in not only growing in member, but of gaining strength in their faith.
